welcome to the mother load

Just found a new site popping up advertising itself as a music video site. If it is anything like the others out there I can well imagine myself wasting many an hour on it. Believe it will be launched in a month or so.

Oscars, Iron Man, the 4th coming of the messiah

Oscars inbound. The crowds will go crazy over sub par films this year. Iron man is to come out April ish and I'm looking forward to that. A top quality piece of entertainment for sure. But the real highlight is?

Harrison Ford - all 200 years of him, grabbing a rare monastic relic despite the protestations of Shorty just one more time. Due in April comes the new Indiana Jones. Apparantly shot in the old school way we can expect melting nazis, bugs and a pretty lady...oh and a cavalier Harrison Ford. Can't wait.

3 reasons why tv should learn from the shining light of tv links

In 2005 the first site to collate tv links from sites like youtube.com was launched. It's audience exploded as friends mailed friends. In 2007 one of the biggest tv links sites was taken down. Tv-links joined mahtv, daily episodes and a whole host of others. While the legality of most of the sites was surely without question - nothing more than a collection of links, some were clearly breaking piracy laws: promoting uploading of movies and tv shows. This is just a background, the real story here lies behind the trends of how people watch these shows online vs normal television.

Point 1 - people watch tv when they want. It's the only true on demand service and the usage stats show people love it.

Point 2 - zero adverts - that's rights, no breaks. You start a show, you watch it start to finish without being bothered by some failing actor waffling on about why you should buy this deodorent.

Point 3 - when people have finished a show, guess what, they dont have to wait another week to watch the next. This continuouty mixed with the removal of breaks for advertising lets the viewer get far more engrossed with the show itself. Attention is kept throughout if a show warrants it, plots, characterisation are all followed in greater detail.

2008 Strike over what now?

So the strike looks like its coming to an end. Television and Movies are back in the hands of the most capable writers and the show as they say while it has indeed gone on, is back.

I am legend was a good film but has been marketed to death now, yes yes we know the car the bridge the rope...Good film that it was, the new Will Smith movie is threatening to have me in stitches. Hancock is not about a black Tony Hancock, although I'm laughing just thinking about it, but rather a superhero bum.

I'm really looking forward to this.
